Chemical bonds are the force of attraction that exists between atoms.
The number of valence electrons that an atom has will determine if the atom will bond with atoms of other elements.

Most elements in group 18 (Noble Gases) have 8 valence electrons.
Therefore, these elements have stable atomic structures and will not form chemical bonds with other atoms.
