Bellwork- What do you know about semicolons? When do you use them?
by Katherine Rodgers
2
Semicolons are used to join two related independent clauses in place of a comma and a coordinating conjunction (and, but, or, nor, for, so, yet).
Reminder- If you use a semicolon, you do not have to capitalize the beginning of the second sentence.
3
You can only use a semicolon between two related independent clauses.
This means that both sides of the semicolon have to be complete sentences.
It will not have a fragment on either side.
