​Substitution

• ​You need to first get one variable alone.

  Once you have a variable alone, you will replace that same variable in the other equation with the equation where the variable is alone

  Now, solve for the other variable.

  Once you get a number for that variable, plug the variable in  to get the answer for the second variable

​Elimination

• ​A method of solving a system of two equations in two variables where you add or subtract a multiple of one equation to another in order to get an equation with only one of the variables (thus eliminating the other variable).
