1. Manipulated
2. Responding
3. Controlled

Manipulated Variable:
Any condition or factor that is intentionally changed by the scientist

Responding Variable: Any condition or factor that only changes in response to changes in the manipulated variable or as a result of changes to the manipulated variable.

Controlled Variable: Any condition or factor that is kept the same throughout the experiment. In order to control it, it must be fully described in the procedure or materials.
