2 TYpes of Circuits

​Series Circuit- the electrip particles will continue to move in the circuit.

​

​Parallel Circuit- electric particles can flow through multiple branches.

​Electricity can only flow if the switch in the circuit is closed.

​Electricity will continue to flow until it hits a resistor.

​

​Resistor- an object where electricity flows through slowly.

​Conductor vs. Insulator

• ​A conductor is a material through which an electric charge can move easily.

  • A resistor is a material through which an electric charge cannot move easily.

    As a current moves through a resistor some of the electrical energy transforms into thermal energy

• ​Insulators are such strong resistors that they can stop most electrical currents.

• Rubber, plastic, glass, and dry cotton.

• Many good electrical insulators are also good thermal insulators.
