This is an unusual, progressive rise in the water level due to heavy rainfall which may result in the overflowing of rivers and streams.

The flooding usually affects low lying areas, where most people settle.

A flash flood is a sudden local flood, typically due to heavy rain. This may occur so quickly that people are caught off-guard and the situation may become dangerous if persons encounter high fast-moving water while travelling.

These are large tropical storm systems, with high-powered circular winds, accompanied by heavy rainfall, lightning and thunder.

Hurricanes usually occur from June 1 to November 30 in the Atlantic Caribbean, causing extensive damage in the various countries.

This is a storm that happens under extremely unusual and unlikely circumstances.

Freak storms are not easily explained by normal weather patterns.

They may be very strong or occur during a season when such storms are rare, or absolutely unpredictable.

This is a period of unusually dry weather that persists long enough to the point where it is considered 'not' normal' compared to its usual condition.

Drought causes problems such as crop damage and water supply shortage.
