States of Matter

It is what all substances are made of.

It exists in three states: solid, liquid, or gas.

A liquid is in all things we drink

Water, lemonade, tea, and juice are just a few examples.

Matter, in it's liquid state, takes the shape of the container.

It's volume stays the same.

The particle's, when viewed under a microscope, move freely.

Matter, in its solid state, is characterized by having the same shape and volume.

When viewed under a microscope, the particles are held together and are very organized.

The gaseous state of matter is the vapor.

An example is the vapor coming out of a pot while cooking.

Matter, in its gaseous state, can change its volume and shape.

Under a microscope, particles are separated and can move freely.
