DAY 7 - Organ System Interactions

On the surface level:

^{+ Muscles move bones to run}

But also, what is coordinating it all?

^{+ The nervous system!}

And where is it getting energy from?

^{+ The digestive system!}

Where do the cells get oxygen from?

^{+ The circulatory and respiratory systems!}

You'd think it's just the digestive system turning food into nutrients, right? Well, that's one level...

It's also:

+ Bones (teeth, mandible) chewing

+ Muscles moving food along

+ Blood vessels carrying nutrients

+ Brain bossing everyone around

+ Hormones making you hungry/full

Covers the outside of the body.

+ Protects muscles and organs

+ Regulates temperature

+ Fights germs, keeps them out

Three layers:

+ epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous.

Helps you move and protect body.

+ Covers bones/organs in layers

+ Contracts and relaxes to move

+ Consumes energy to work well

There are more than 600 muscles in a human body! Like:

+ Biceps, triceps, pectorals, etc.

Helps to move and protect organs.

+ Attached to muscles via tendons

+ Attached to bones w/ ligaments

+ Also creates blood cells!

An adult human has about 206 bones - children have more!

+ Long bones don't fuse until older
