It Wasn't My Fault

Mrs. Parkins just gave her class a project to complete by November 8th. The project is to do something for the community. They have six weeks to do it and it’s worth 20% of their final grade. Angela, Jane, Drew, and Julio immediately grouped together to form a team. They all know each other but they’ve never worked together for a project. They brainstormed ideas and decided to raise some money to buy board games for a local senior center.

For four weeks, they raised money by selling cookies and brownies. They sold them to their neighbors and other kids at their school. In total, they raised $129.75! For the fifth week, they shopped at Arthur’s Hobby Shop and bought a total of 7 different board games.

For the last week, they made a plan to drop off the games on Saturday at a senior center called Brick River. They were also going to spend four hours playing games with the elderly. They agreed to meet there at 1:00 pm and Jane volunteered to bring the games there.

When Saturday arrived, Julio, Angela, and Drew were there on time, but Jane never arrived. Jane forgot to tell her parents about the event and they had left for the afternoon to do some car repairs. So Jane had no one to drive her to Brick River. She called Angela and said it wasn’t her fault, and it was her parents fault for not being there. The rest of the team was very upset with Jane for not planning better. They had to adapt and ended up socializing with the elderly for several hours. Jane finally showed up at 4:30 p.m. with the games and she put all of the blame on her parents. The rest of the team was furious with Jane for not taking responsibility for her actions.
