DYNAMIC

Dynamics are the level of VOLUME in music.

If you look to the right these are the most common dynamics in music.

Try and remember p (piano = soft) and f (forte = loud)

RHYTHM

Rhythm is how long or short you hold a sound

When counting music, one of the most important things to remember is your rhythm. A sound will not sound complete without it.

• Quarter Note/Rest (1 Count)

• Half Note/Rest (2 Counts)

• Dotted Half Note/Rest (3 Counts)

• Whole Note/Rest (4 Counts)

TEMPO

How fast or slow you place a piece of music.

We use Italian terms when describing our tempo within a piece of music.

For Example: If you were to say play this song slowly, you would say Largo

Music Genres

A muisc genre is a specific style of music that you might listen to.

SPACE

Space refers to the amount of area a dancer has around them.

The most common examples of space are: Direction, Level and Size.

TIME

Time refers to how slow or fast a dancer will complete a dance move.

An example might be somebody doing a dance move really slow, and then doing a really fast move

ENERGY

Energy refers to how one moves throughout a dance.

An example would be moving SHARP or FLOWLY during a piece of music. The music genre might affect the difference.
