Transitions and Parallelism

Transitions are words writers use to help connect their ideas together and to move from one idea to the next

Transitions help the reader understand the relationship between phrases, sentences, and paragraphs

They help readers understand the writer's thinking

Parallelism is a type of figurative language (yes, we will continue to come back to figurative language)

Gives the writing or speech a sense of rhythm

Can help emphasize or separate a point out from the rest of the piece

Usually uses some type of conjunction (but, so, and, yet...)
