SCTW Pt 1: Author's Purpose

Author's purpose is the reason they wrote the book.

We can find author's purpose by analyzing details and word choice.

Persuade: asking the reader to do something

Inform: Giving information to a specific audience.

Entertain: Simply to be enjoyed; normally fiction

Anything besides a word that is inside a book

Picture, caption, map, link, qr code, video, table, chart, etc

Using the text features help readers understand the content.

Beginning of a book, written by the author.

Sets the scene by giving background information

Gives details on what happened right before the audience showed.

As a semi-narrator, the writer of the prologue sometimes gives their short opinion on what's going on.
