Equatorial Guineans liked the sound of Spain Spanish and decided to keep that one.

Equatorial Guineans wanted to keep the original Spanish they learned and keep using Spain Spanish.

There are more Spaniards than Equatorial Guineans and so it's just a more common dialect.

Lots of oil money but lots of poverty for the people

Political environment is very restrictive

People are not fully trusting of non locals and stay quiet

There are few archival documents from pre-colonial times as well as colonial times

So that they can retain their identity and not be sucked into the colonist identity

So that they can learn a new way to live while still practicing their old ways.

So that they can go back to what they once were when the new political system has left.

So that they can teach the colonist their ways of living.
