Decimal Place Value
We use decimals to represent part of a whole.
A decimal becomes larger as it gets closer to 1 whole.
We often see decimals when representing money, so it may help to imagine decimals as money.
We can add a 0 to the end of any decimal and it does not change the value.

When Reading a Decimal...
Say the regular whole number that you see (don't say 0 if it is in the ones place).
Use the word "and" to represent the decimal point (don't say and if there is only a 0 before the decimal point).
Say the number after the decimal point with the place value that the last digit is in.
