Objective: Find the missing side in right triangles using the Pythagorean Theorem.

PERFECT SQUARES are numbers that when you take the square root the answer is a number (not a decimal)

√4 = 2

√9 = 3

√16 = 4

√25 = 5

√36 = 6

√49 = 7

...and so on

NON-PERFECT SQUARES are numbers that when you take the square root the answer is a decimal

√10 = 3.16227766....(this keeps going forever)

√34 = 5.820951895...

In this situation, we are going to round to the nearest tenth.

(5 or above - number goes up one)

6 is above 5 - the 1 becomes a 2
