How is Soil Formed (Erosion, Weathering, & Deposition)

I can make observations of my environment to construct an explanation of how water and/or wind have made changes to soil and/or rocks over time.

Experiment

An example of erosion will be explained. The process of erosion carries the pieces of broken rock and sand away.

-As the water flowed to the bottom of the pan I saw broken pieces of rocks and sand.

-This process is called erosion, the carrying away of broken pieces of rocks and sand.

The process of deposition will be explained. Deposition takes the pieces of broken sand and rock and puts them or deposits them in a new place.

-I saw the broken pieces of sand and rock being placed or deposited in a different place.

-This is an example of deposition.

Are rivers the only cause of weathering, erosion, and deposition? Can you think of any other ways rocks can be weathered, eroded, or deposited? If not let's listen closely.

-Weathering breaks the rock.

-Erosion takes the rock.

-Deposition drops the rock in a new place.
