Unit 2- Decimals Review

Learning Target- Students will review decimal forms, addition and subtraction, comparisons, and rounding to prepare for the unit test.

Addition and Subtraction

• Line up the decimals.

• If their are gaps at the end fill them in with 0 placeholders.

• Pay attention to the sign, + or -.

• Don't forget to bring the decimals straight down.

Comparing

• Which decimal is greater?

• Line up the decimals and compare digits beginning on the left

Rounding

• Find the place value that you are rounding to tenths, hundredths, thousandths, etc. and underline it.

• Look at the digit to the right, is it a strong boss (5 or higher)? Round up. The underlined digit goes up 1.

• Is it a weak boss (less that 5)? The underlined digit stays the same.
