WHAT IS MEDIA?
the main means of mass communication (broadcasting, publishing, and the internet) regarded collectively:
Media is the communication outlets or tools used to store and deliver information or data.
The term refers to components of the mass media communications industry, such as print media, publishing, the news media, photography, cinema, broadcasting (radio and television), digital media, and advertising.

MEDIA AND TECHNOLOGY
1. Data storage is the recording (storing) of information (data) in a storage medium. DNA and RNA, handwriting, phonographic recording, magnetic tape, and optical discs are all examples of storage media. Recording may be accomplished with virtually any form of energy. Electronic data storage requires electrical power to store and retrieve data.

The different technologies that mass media use are expensive. In a news studio, it is not only the newsreader who needs to be paid but also a number of other people who help put the broadcast together A lot of money is spent on getting the latest technology. To meet this cost, a lot of money is required. Media thus has come to be owned by big corporate. Media uses advertising as a tool to raise revenue. One way in which the mass media earns money is by advertising different things like cars, chocolates, clothes, mobile phones, etc.

MEDIA AND DEMOCRACY
Media democracy is a democratic approach to media studies that advocates for the reform of mass media to strengthen public service broadcasting and develop participation in alternative media and citizen journalism in order to create a mass media system that informs and empowers all members of society and enhances democratic values. Media is also defined as "medium" a way of communicating with others.

SETTING AGENDAS
Agenda setting is the ability of media to determine salience of issues with news, through a cognitive process called “accessibility”, which is the process of retrieving an issue in the memory. Setting an agenda is also influenced by a person’s perception to certain beliefs.
