When you see a noun in the vocab list, what does each thing mean?

ager, agrī, m.

The first word is the singular, nominative form (ager)

The second word is the singular, genitive form (agrī)

We get our noun stems from the singular, genitive. Just remove the genitive ending to get the stem. (agr-).

The gender of the noun is listed last (m = masculine)

Have person - 1st, 2nd, or 3rd person - based on the subject

Have number - singular or plural - again based on subject

Has tense - currently only know present

Has voice - either active or passive

cōgitō, cōgitāre, cōgitāvī, cōgitātum

These are the 4 Principal Parts

cōgitō - 1st person, singular, present, active

cōgitāre - active infinitive

We get verb stem from the active infinitive, by dropping the -re (cōgitā-)

cōgitāvī - 1st person, singular, perfect, active (a form of past tense)

cōgitātum - perfect, passive, participle
