Cells and their parts

Animal and Plant cells have organelles that are the same.

There are also some organelles that can only be found in animal or plant cells.

Cell Membrane: controls what comes in and out of cell

Nucleus: "brain" or command center of the cell.

The nucleus contains the DNA.

Cytoplasm: jelly-like substance that surrounds everything in the cell.

Mitochondria: powerhouse of the cell

E.R.: helps transports materials throughout the cell

Vacuole: Stores water and waste

Plant cells contain 1 LARGE vacuole.

Animal cells contain multiple smaller vacuoles.

Cell Wall: provides additional protection and helps cell keep its shape

Chloroplast: contains green pigment called chlorophyll used for photosynthesis
