Application Project- Odd and Even Numbers

Start with the number 2

Add 2 more to get to 4

Add 2 more to the number 4 to get to 6

Add 2 more to the number 6 to get to 8

Add 2 more to the number 8 to get to 10

When skip counting by two the pattern is

2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and so on.

Equal groups are groups that have the same number of objects. 

Placing objects in equal groups will determine if the total number of objects is odd or even.

If the groups have the same or an equal number of objects the number of total objects is even.

If the two groups have an unequal number of objects the number of total objects is odd.

After the equal groups have been made, use the amount in each group to make addends and sums.

An addend is a number that is added to another number to create a sum.

A sum is an answer to an addition equation.

even + even = even

even + odd = odd

Determine if the sets are equal or unequal.

If both groups are equal, there are an even number of members.

If the groups are unequal, there are an odd number of members.

Write an equation to represent the amount of members in both groups.

If the addends are the same, the number is even. If the addends are different, the number is odd.
