Reported Speech

Do stworzenia zdania twierdzącego w mowie zależnej (reported speech) potrzebujemy nie tylko następstwa czasów. Ogólnym zamysłem mowy zależnej jest relacjonowanie wypowiedzi innej osoby, a więc zdanie w mowie zależnej musi zaczynać się od czasownika, który pozwoli nam tę wypowiedź zrelacjonować (reporting verb).

Osoba + reporting verb + that + osoba + czasownik o czas do tyłu + reszta zdania

John said, “I like summertime.”

John powiedział: “Lubię lato.”

John said that he liked summertime.

John powiedział, że lubi lato.

Present Simple → Past Simple

Anna:“I’m here.” → Anna said (that) she was there.

Present Continuous → Past Continuous

Adam: “I’m reading a book.” → Adam said (that) he was reading a book.

Presen tPerfect → Past Perfect

John: “I’ve done my homework.” → John said (that) he had done his homework.

Past Simple → Past Perfect

Ben: “I had dinner two hours ago.” → Ben said (that) he had had dinner two hours before.
