Volume

is the quantity of three-dimensional space enclosed by a closed surface, for example, the space that a substance (solid, liquid, gas, or plasma) or shape occupies or contains. Volume is often quantified numerically using the SI derived unit, the cubic metre.

Volume is calculated by multiplying three different dimensions which are: Length, Width, and Height.

Because we are multiplying three different dimensions, the unit measurement will be raised to the third power or CUBED.

The formula for Volume of a Cube is: V = L x W x H

Use the following measures of a cube:

L = 6 mm

W = 3 mm

H = 10 mm

If we are to find the volume of this cube we would simply multiply 6 x 3 x 10 to get the answer. The answer would be 180 mm³
