Quotation Marks

Authors use these marks to show exactly what characters are saying.

Quotation Mark Rules

Quotation marks go around the outside of spoken words.
You need a beginning mark and an end mark.
They go at the end of spoken words, not at the end of the sentence.
They do not go around the dialogue tag.

Examples

John said, "Baseball is my favorite sport."
"I'm hungry. Let's get something to eat," said Jake.
"Where did I park the car?" asked mom.
