DIVISION (ORALLY)
DIVIDING A NO. BY 10 WHEN A NO. IS DIVIDED BY 10, THE QUOTIENT IS OBTAINED BY REMOVING THE 1st DIGIT FROM RIGHT. THE DIGIT REMOVED IS THE REMAINDER.
6
DIVISION (ORALLY)
DIVIDING A NO. BY 100: When a no. is divided by 100, the quotient is obtained by removing the 1st 2 digits from right. The digits removed is the remainder.
7
Division (Orally)
Dividing a no. by 1000: When a no. is divided by 1000, the quotient is obtained by removing the 1st 3 digits from right. The digits removed is the remainder.

WORD PROBLEMS
We need to do division in many situations in our daily life. Let us study some examples.
Example 1: The cost of 5 pens of the same type is ₹ 75. Find the cost of 1 pen.
Solution: Cost of 5 pens = ₹ 75
Cost of 1 pen = ₹ 75 ÷ 5
= ₹ 15
Therefore, the cost of 1 pen is ₹ 15.9
Word Problems
