Ratios

In mathematics, a ratio is a comparison of two or more numbers that indicates their sizes in relation to each other. 

 A ratio compares two quantities by division, with the dividend or number being divided termed the antecedent and the divisor or number that is dividing termed the consequent.

A ratio might be formatted as a Part to Part or Part to Whole comparison.

You can exsepress ratio as "the ratio of A to B," "A is to B," "A : B" or the quotient of A divided by B

You can express ratio as "the ratio of A to B," "A is to B," "A : B" or the quotient of A divided by B

Ratios are simple division problems, so they can also be written as a fraction.  (4/3)

Ratios can be expressed using only words ( 4 to 3)

The most common is to write a ratio using a colon (4:3)

If two ratios have the same value when simplified, then they are called Equivalent Ratios.d

Equivalent ratios can be obtained by multiplying or dividing both sides by the same non-zero number.

Ex: 1/3 and 2/6 are equivalent ratios since they represent the same fraction, and when divided they both equal 0.33 !
