When you say Tu t'appelles and Tu habites, what do you notice about the ending?
6
So in French we make changes to the verb according to who is speaking, the subject of the verb.
So the verbs is actually, s'appeler and habiter.
7
Open Ended
What did you notice about the ending of those verbs?
8
Yes , they end in "er". They are called "er" verbs.
When they end in "er" they are called the infinitive. In English it means : to live, to call myself etc.
9
Now let's see some examples of other "er" verbs in French.
There are a lot but we will meet them in time.

To dance
11
Chanter

12

But what changes do we make ?
1st: We remove the "er".
2nd: We add "e" if the subject is "je" and "es" if the subject is "tu"
So that's how we have je m'appelle /J'habite and Tu t'appelles/ Tu habites.
