Fractions and integers

have the same value even though they may look different. They are fractions that name the same amount or part.

These are useful to know because they remind us to simplify fractions.

Numerator (divided by) Denominator

Take the decimal and multiply by 100 to get the percent

Take the percent and put it over 100

**YOU CANNOT ADD OR SUBTRACT FRACTIONS THAT HAVE DIFFERENT DENOMINATORS**

KEEP --> CHANGE --> FLIP

- variables

- decimals

- percentages

- ALGEBRA!!       

• negative values are to the left or below zero (aka the origin)

• Positive values are to the right or above zero (aka the origin)

• When a number does not have a visible sign we assume the number is positive

• same sign: ADD the numbers and KEEP the sign

• different sign: find the DIFFERENCE and use the sign of the highest value

• try to re-write it as an addition by "adding the opposite"
