Linking Verbs

Subject is the "main character" of a sentence

It does the actions and the sentence revolves around it

I have learned so much about English today already

The students flooded the halls when they heard the bell ring.

Before class was over, the teacher was pranked by the students

Verb that joins or links the subject with the subject complement

Verb that has no action or cannot be an action

Subject complement is either a word or a group of words that describes the subject more, ALWAYS FOLLOWS A LINKING VERB

Can either be a noun or adjective

The car on the highway was fast.

The chocolate chip cookies seemed ready.

She was biting her nails and she looked nervous.

My favorite place to travel is Florida.
