Reflexive Pronouns
ENGLISH 10
(Grammar Lesson 1)
by Madam Aura Anne Rose Tan

2
Reflexive Pronouns
Pronouns that end with -self or -selves that reflect or refer back to the subject, both noun or pronoun forms, of a sentence or clause. This simply identifies what the subject of the sentence does to oneself or itself.
3
The pronoun herself above expresses that the store owner who happens to be a girl/lady/woman baked a cake for herself. The reflexive pronoun functions as an indirect object (for whom the cake is baked).
4
REMEMBER!
Reflexive pronouns serve an integral function or a necessary part in the sentence, they cannot be removed or changed to other pronoun forms.
