Longitude & Latitude

• Longitude lines go from north to south

• A good way to remember this is the lines are LONG (longitude)

• ​Lines of latitude go from east to west (sideways)

• I have no trick for remembering latitude - JUST REMEMBER IT! :)

​Equator

​Line goes through the center

​of Earth and divides Earth

​into North and South

Coordinates

• When you look at the Equator or Prime Meridian, those lines start at 0 degrees.

• Longitude and latitude are measured in "degrees" - this looks like a little circle

• To find even MORE SPECIFIC places on a map, we use "minutes" and "seconds" to find exact places (look at the image!)
