Percent Increase/Decrease

Percent increase is a measure of how much a quantity has grown relative to its original amount, expressed as a percentage.

Percent decrease is a measure of how much a quantity has shrunk relative to its original amount, expressed as a percentage.

Percent Increase = ((New Value - Original Value) / Original Value) x 100.

Percent Decrease = ((Original Value - New Value) / Original Value) x 100.

Percent Increase = ((75 - 50) / 50) x 100 = 50%.

Percent Decrease = ((1000 - 800) / 1000) x 100 = 20%.

Profit Percentage = (Profit / Cost Price) x 100.

Profit = 680 - 550 = 130; Profit Percentage = (130 / 550) x 100 = 23.64%.

It means the number of attendees has grown by 24% compared to the previous year.

Percent Decrease = ((980 - 637) / 980) x 100 = 35%.
