Parts of a sewing machine

Large wheel on the right hand side of the machine controls movement of the needle. (located on the side of machine)

Feeds thread from spool to the needle.

Metal plate under the machine needle and is marked with seam allowance markings for accurate sewing.

This small, flat, spool holds the bottom thread.

Holds the fabric firmly in place.(Feeds the fabric)

Set of metal ¨teeth¨ that moves fabric during stitching. (below the presser foot)

Lever raises and lowers the presser foot.

Holds the spool of thread.

Allows backward stitching.

A special fabric that gives support (makes more rigid) and body to a garment or project. It is placed between the facing and the outer fabric and is not visible.
