Each decimal number has a place value. As we all know , the number/ numbers before the decimal point , has the usual place value , like ones , tens etc. But the numbers after the decimal point are said and their values are different. Like in the number 8.36 , 8 is said as 8 itself as it is before the decimal point , but 3 and 6 are said differently. They are not said together. 3 is said as three or 3 'tenths ' , not tens. 6 is said as six or 6 hundreths. If zero is there in any of the places [ Tenths , Hundredths ] it is said as some number and 0 , but there must not be and while saying or writing or some number tenths or hundredths , just forget about 0!

​Converting Fractions into decimals

Coverting fractions into decimals is very easy. If we are trying to convert the fraction 65/10 , we will have to seperate how many 0's there are in your denominator. Here it is one 0 , so we have to separate 1 number like 5. Then you have to send 5 after the decimal point. If there are 2 two 0's then two numbers after the decimal point

​Mixed fractions to decimal

​When we are coverting mixed fractions to decimals we have to follow these steps. For example let's take the number 4 9/12. Then we have to take our whole number 4 as th first number in the ones place. then the numerator as the tenths for our decimal number. Done! Our decimal number is 4.9! Yahoo!

​Comparing decimal numbers

When we compare any number by another we always must check the place value for all numbers . First , check the tens and the hundreds place , if they are same then okay but if they are different and the one which is greater is the greatest. Then to the next one tenths , check the numbers present there , if there s any number greater in the tenths place for both the numbers then that number is greater but if they are not then the hundredths. Then you find the greater number following the same process.
