Inleiding

Je versimpelt het onderwerp naar I/he/she/it/we/you/they in een question tag.

to be (am/is/are/was/were) shall
to have (have/has/had) should
can must
could may
will might
would

5

Andere werkwoorden

Als er een ander werkwoord in de zin staat, gebruiken we do/does/did.

You worked really hard on this project, didn't you?
Lucy and Ani practise every Monday, don't they?
John works really hard to pass his exams, doesn't he?

6

Opbouw

  • His friend is nice, isn't he?

  • These castles are really old, aren't they?

  • They can't help us, can they?

  • He isn't here right now, is he?

7

Note:

Ontkennend in de hoofdzin hoeft niet altijd not te betekenen, maar kunnen ook woorden zijn zoals never, hardly ever enz.

8

Uitzondering

Na een zin met "I am" gebruik je in de aangeplakte vraag "aren't I".

  • I am clever, aren't I?
