Cored solder contains a core of flux inside the solder metal.

The flux in cored solder is a mix of resins, activators, wetting agents, and corrosion inhibitors.

Cored solder is only available in lead-based varieties.

Both Sn-Pb and PbFree series can be used for cored solder.

The iron tip shape should be chosen based on the application.

All soldering irons have the same power capacity.

Ceramic heaters are weak to impact or shock.

Weller irons are better for Pb Free or large joints.
