YouTube started in 2005 when three friends, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, decided to make a website for sharing videos online. The first video was uploaded in April 2005, and it was called Me at the Zoo. A few months later, many people began to use the website, and it became very popular. In 2006, Google bought YouTube, and after that, the company grew quickly. It started to add more features, like comments, likes, and ads. Today, millions of people around the world use YouTube every day to watch, share, and upload videos.
