​Understand prepositions

A preposition is a word that is used at the beginning of a prepositional phrase. Prepositional phrases add information to describe how something is done or where something is. Common prepositions include about, at, by, for, from, in, of, on, to, and with.

Examples

April kept talking about New Orleans. The preposition "about" helps describe what April was discussing.
Streaming movies at home is ok. The preposition "at" helps describe where they watch streaming movies.
April showed she was unhappy by rolling her eyes. The preposition "by" describes how April showed she was unhappy.
I was eager for a new adventure. The preposition "for" helps show what Tyler was eager to do.
Tyler loves books that tell how aliens come from outer space. The preposition "from" helps show where aliens might live.
New Orleans is a city in America. The preposition "in" shows where New Orleans is.
We like watching movies on the big screen. The preposition "on" shows where the movie is.
The family moved to New Orleans. The preposition "to" shows where the family moved.
April watched a scary movie with Tyler. The preposition "with" shows who else watched the movie.

​Describing characters

Character traits are wrds that help us describe a character. We notice what the character thinks, says, and does, as well as the consequences of their actions.
Some traits are positive like brave, helpful, determined, curious.
Some traits are negative like foolish, rude, stubborn.
