A schematic diagram is a simplified drawing that uses symbols, lines, and shapes to represent the components of a system and how they are connected. It does not show the physical layout or exact appearance of the parts but focuses on the function and relationships between them.
5
Objective:
Students will analyze a simple schematic diagram of a computer system to identify hardware components and their connections.
Divide the class into 3 students per group
I will provide you a Simple Layout Plan showing the computer system and peripherals.
Do the following:
Draw a simple schematic diagram and label each component (CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, etc.)
Trace the flow of information (e.g., input → process → output).
Discuss what happens if one component is missing or disconnected.
6
Guide Questions:
1. Which are input devices? Output devices?
What is the role of the CPU in this schematic?
How do the components work together to complete a task?
Group Sharing: Each group presents their analysis to the class.

A schematic diagram is a simplified drawing that uses symbols, lines, and shapes to represent the components of a system and how they are connected. It does not show the physical layout or exact appearance of the parts but focuses on the function and relationships between them.
8
Basically schematic diagram is a representation of system elements that are abstract or symbols which are graphical in nature adn it removes all irrelevant information.
9
A chart is a visual representation of data or information, usually in the form of graphs, diagrams, or tables, that makes it easier to understand patterns, relationships, and comparisons.
It displays the relationship of at least two variable. It is often used to easily interpret large quantities of data and the relationship between their parts.

The scores are grouped into bins from 0-10 up to 91-100, with frequencies representing the number of students in each range.
Sales amounts for products A, B, C, D, and E with their corresponding sales values.

A block diagram is a simplified drawing that represents a system, process, or device using blocks (rectangles or other shapes) connected by lines or arrows to show the flow of information, signals, or materials.
👉 Key point: Each block represents a function or component, and the arrows show how they interact.

A layout plan is a detailed drawing or design that shows the arrangement and placement of parts, components, or spaces within a system, building, or project area.
👉 In simple terms: It is a plan that illustrates where things are positioned and how they are organized for efficient function and use.
17
18
A loop diagram is a detailed drawing that shows how instruments, devices, or components are connected and interact within a control system, usually forming a “loop” of signals and feedback.
👉 In simple terms: It’s a diagram that traces the path of a signal—from the measuring instrument (sensor), through the controller, and back to the final control element (like a motor or valve)—to show how the system works as a closed loop.
