COMPETITIVE AND RECREATIONAL - ENDURANCE AND DOWNHILL RACING

The most common discipline, focusing on endurance and fitness over varied terrain that includes climbs and descents. XC bikes are typically lightweight and efficient.

X-C

A more aggressive version of XC, with tougher singletrack trails and moderate technical features. Trail bikes are versatile and balance climbing ability with downhill performance.

An extreme discipline focused on racing down steep, technical, and rough trails as fast as possible. Riders use heavy, full-suspension bikes and often take ski lifts or shuttles to the top.

​DOWNHILL - DH

Combines the endurance of cross-country with the speed of downhill. Riders are timed on downhill sections, while uphill transfers are untimed.

​ENDURO BIKES

A style focused on navigating technical trail features and performing tricks, with less emphasis on speed. Courses often feature jumps, ramps, and natural obstacles.

​FREE RIDE

Involves riding over shaped dirt ramps to become airborne and perform tricks. 

​DIRT JUMPING

A helmet is non-negotiable for safety. Choose one with enhanced rear-head coverage and a firm, secure fit. Downhill riders should wear a full-face helmet.

Consider gloves to protect your hands and knee pads for added safety, especially if you are tackling more technical terrain.
