Ancient: 

• A person, place, or thing from VERY LONG AGO

Modern: 

• A person, place, or thing from the present time

• We live in modern times.  We are modern people.  

Ancient!  

You can tell she is digging something ancient because we don't bury people right in the ground like that anymore.  That must have been buried VERY long ago.  

Modern! 

You can tell because these are the kinds of tools we use today. 

Ancient! 

You can tell because we don't dress like that anymore, and we don't use those kinds of weapons.  

Modern! 

You can tell because this is our CURRENT calendar that we still use. Even though it is 5 years old, it is still modern. 

Ancient! 

You can tell because it is VERY OLD.  

When we study Ancient Civilizations, we will use GRAPES.
