Early humans teamed up with wolves. If YOU had to pick one modern animal to “domesticate” as your survival buddy, what would it be and why? (Follow-up: What advantages did wolves give humans?)

Imagine you’re a caveman. You just discovered fire. Write down the FIRST thing you would do with it (besides not burning off your eyebrows). (Follow-up: How did fire actually change human life?)

Bellringer: Think about something you care about so much that you’d be willing to risk everything for it—your phone, your family, your freedom? The colonists risked their lives in the Revolution because they wanted guaranteed rights. Why do you think they believed the Bill of Rights was worth the fight?

Bellringer: The colonists had already lived under British rule where soldiers could be forced into their homes. Imagine soldiers suddenly moving into your bedroom, eating your food, and telling you to sleep on the floor. Why would this make “freedom” worth fighting for?
