No, I would not be willing to give a cut of my flesh or agree to any arrangement that seriously endangers my health or life, even to help a close friend. True friendship involves support, sacrifice, and generosity, but it should not require risking one's well-being in such an extreme way. Instead, I would try to help my friend through safer and more practical means, such as lending money if I could afford it, helping them find other sources of support, or working together to solve the problem.

3,000 ducats and my own flesh is not a price to scoff and I would only consider lending that much to my closest and most loyal friends. I don't think I could be as generous as Antonio, as my closest friend would have to be on the brink of death for me to even consider that much money. If I found out he was asking that much just to impress a woman, I would be insulted. However, that is just me.

The character I like more is George Milton due to the values he possess. He is very dependable and reliable, showed by how he takes care of Lennie. He is also (at times) patient and understanding with Lennie, even if Lennie himself gives George a hard time. Lastly, he is a verify good friend. He sticks up for Lennie and has always been with him. When he had to shoot Lennie, George was filled with sadness and regret showing their bond and ho George deeply cares for his friend.

I don't have personal preferences, but if I were comparing the two characters, I might find George Milton more compelling because he carries the responsibility of caring for Lennie while trying to pursue his own dreams. His struggles, decisions, and sacrifices add complexity to his character. At the same time, Lennie Small is sympathetic because of his innocence, loyalty, and childlike hope for a better future.
