परिभाषा : किसी अनुप्रस्थ काट से प्रति एकांक समय में प्रवाहित होने वाले आवेश के मान को विद्युत धारा कहलाती है , माना Q आवेश अनुप्रस्थ काट से t समय में गुजरता है तो परिभाषा से
विद्युत धारा = Q /t
चूँकि हम यहाँ आवेश प्रवाह की बात कर रहे है अतः आवेश धनात्मक तथा ऋणात्मक आवेशित होगा ,
अतः हम कह सकते है की धारा के प्रवाह में धनात्मक तथा ऋणात्मक आवेश योगदान करते है।
