How can we keep ourselves safe and prevent further fatalities?

Safe Isolation

The safe isolation procedure for electrical work involves the following steps:

1. Secure the point of isolation by placing notices to prevent inadvertent reclosure.

2. Prove that the circuit is dead using an Approved Voltage Indicator or test lamp.

3. Apply Lock.

4. Place danger notices.

5. Issue an electrical permit to work.

6. Follow best practices for electrical workers and employers.

​Proving unit this has a series of lights that light up at different voltages indicating what voltage is present at the time.
