The Lost Puppy Reading Comprehension

One sunny afternoon, a boy named Tom was playing in the park near his house. He loved to run and play with his friends, but today he saw something different — a small puppy sitting under a tree. The puppy looked tired and scared. It was shaking and looking around as if it was lost.

Tom slowly walked toward the puppy and said, “Hello, little one. Are you lost?” The puppy wagged its tail but did not move.
Tom decided to help the puppy find its home.

First, Tom asked some people in the park, “Have you lost a puppy?” But nobody said yes. Then, Tom took the puppy to the nearby shops and asked the shopkeepers if they knew who the puppy belonged to. Everyone was kind but did not recognize the puppy.

Tom didn’t give up. He made some posters with a picture of the puppy and his phone number. He and his mother put the posters on trees, walls, and at the school.

That evening, a woman called Tom. She said, “Thank you for finding my puppy! His name is Max. He ran away from home when the gate was open.” Tom was very happy to hear that.

The next day, the woman came to Tom’s house with Max. The puppy was excited and jumped into her arms. She smiled and said, “You are a very kind boy, Tom. Thank you for helping Max.”

Tom felt proud. He knew that sometimes helping others, even a little puppy, can make a big difference.
