📍 Where is Núi Dinh?
Núi Dinh is a mountain area in Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu Province, about 80 km from Ho Chi Minh City. It is 500 meters high, with many trees, waterfalls, and caves. There are over 20 small temples and pagodas, including famous ones like Hang Mai Temple and Chùa Tây Phương.

Today, people come here to go trekking, visit temples, and learn about Vietnam’s history

🇫🇷 During the French War (1946–1954)

• In 1952, local leaders moved to Núi Dinh to escape French attacks.

• The mountain had many caves and forests, which helped fighters stay hidden and safe.

• Groups such as the City Committee, Young Volunteer Group, and National United Front worked here.

• Local people secretly gave food, medicine, and shelter.

Fighters used this base to plan attacks on Bà Rịa town.

🇺🇸 During the American War (1954–1975)

🔹 1954–1961: Quiet Support Time

Some fighters moved to the North. The others stayed and worked with local people quietly.

🔹 1961–1966: Training and Fighting

• Fighters came back and built a big base again in Núi Dinh.

• They trained and learned here to stop the enemy’s "Strategic Hamlet" plan.

• From Hang Mai and Hang Tổ, fighters moved into towns to attack enemy bases.

• To survive, they collected forest plants and sold tree oil for money.
  
  

🔹 1966–1972: Fighting Big Attacks

• American and Australian forces sent helicopters, bombs, and special soldiers.

• The Vietnamese army stayed strong and fought back.

• In October 1967, they killed 100 enemies at Hang Dây Bí.

• In May 1970, they defended Hang Dơi from heavy bombing.

🔹 1972–1975: Hard Times but Strong Spirit

• There was not enough rice or salt. Fighters ate forest leaves, wild fruits, and banana trunks.

• They still stayed and worked with the people until the final battle.
  
  

• From 1965, young fighters from Sài Gòn Youth Union studied here.

• They lived together, cooked, and learned about politics, survival, and war tactics.

• Classes lasted 3 months. They woke up at 4 a.m., walked in the forest, and learned in secret huts.

• Sometimes, they had to stop learning to hide from planes and bombs.

Life was hard, but they were happy, strong, and united.
