جَاءَ يَوْمُ الجُمُعَةِ، وَاجْتَمَعَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ في المسجد النبوي في المدينةِ الْمُنَوَّرَةِ : يَنْتَظِرُونَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الخطاب للصلاة. انتظر الناس، وانتظروا ، لكنَّ الرَّجُلَ تَأخَّرَ كَثيراً . وأخيراً جَاءَ بَعْدَ وقت طويل: فقالوا له: لماذا تَأَخَّرْتَ يا عُمَرُ ؟ قَالَ عُمَرُ : لي قَمِيصٌ واحدٌ : لَيْسَ لَدَيَّ غَيْرُهُ، غُسَلْتُ هَذَا الْقَمِيصَ. وَوَضَعْتُهُ في الشَّمْسِ، وَانتَظَرْتُ، ثُمَّ لَبِسْتُهُ وَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ
