Using Commas with Dates, Geographical Names, and Titles

Part 1
If a date includes a month, a day, and a year, use a comma to set off the year. If a date does not include all three parts, no commas are needed.
If a geographical name includes two parts, such as both a city and a state or country, use a comma or commas to set off the second part.
If one or more titles (such as Jr., Sr., Esq., M.D., or Ph.D.) follow a person's name, use a comma or commas to set off each title.

Date With Commas | The graduation ceremony on June 3, 2022, was followed by a party on June 4, 2022. |
Date Without Commas | The building was under construction from August 2020 through April 2021. It reopened on May 1st of that year. |
Geographical Name | My father flew from Newark, New Jersey, to London, England, for business. |
Name With One or More Titles | The sign on the door said Harold Bloom, Jr., Ph.D., so I knew it was the right office. |
