7.8 Commas in Compound Sentences

Compound Sentence - when two short sentences are combined into one longer sentence.

Use a comma followed by and, but, or or to join two sentences.

Examples:

The brothers faced a hard winter.
They survived.
The brothers faced a hard winter, and they survived.
